2010 Jo Picone Essay Contest
RULES AND REGULATIONS


1. Application - Click here for application form

Manuscripts must be submitted to the Essay Chairman postmarked no later than midnight September 1, 2010.

2. Eligibility – Individual Competition only

  • Graduate Competition – Only graduate technologists who are members in good standing with the CSRT at the time of application shall be considered eligible.
  • Student Competition – Only student technologists who are members in good standing with the CSRT at the time of application shall be considered eligible.
  • The following are not eligible: CSRT President, Essay Chairperson, and Essay Judges

3. Content

Subject matter must consist of material pertinent to Medical Radiologic Technology and its subspecialties.

4. Judging

  • Judges selected by the Essay Chairperson will be known only to the Essay Chairperson and the CSRT President.
  • The judges will only judge unidentified manuscripts on the basis of the following evaluation scale:
    • Originality - 25%
    • Content - 25 %
    • Organization of Material - 25%
      • Development – is material orderly and presented in logical sequence
    • Composition - 25%
      • Grammar, spelling, punctuation, neatness, etc.

5. Manuscripts

  • All manuscripts must be original compositions; author shall maintain the ownership of the essay by retaining the original manuscript
  • All essays must be prepared in manuscript style on good quality bond paper, 8 ½ by 11, typewritten or done on computer, double spaced with wide margins, using only one side of the paper.
  • The manuscript must be at least 500 words and not more than 750 words.
  • Each entry will consist of two legible copies, one with hand written signature and the other with no personal identification.( no marks of identification such as names, companies, or hospitals, which could give clues to the identity of the author or the author’s program)

6. Awards

  • The authors of prize-winning papers will be notified in time to permit them to make arrangements to attend the annual conference of the CSRT for presentation.
    • The awards are as follows:

      Graduate Competition: $ 50.00

      Student Competition: $ 50.00

     

The winning manuscripts will be published in future editions of the CSRT Newsline

 

   The Connecticut Society of Radiologic Technologists will host educational sessions as defined above.

   The mission of the C.S.R.T. is to encourage professional growth in the field of Radiology through education.

   Enjoy the sessions while learning something new, meeting old friends, and making new ones. Network with other radiographers from around the state.
